The RTA last week said the roll-out of dragon’s teeth in the Warren local government area has been completed and all school zones in the area now have the road markings installed.
An RTA spokesperson said dragon’s teeth road markings had been introduced along the entry points of 40km/h school zones to improve the visibility of these zones.
“Child pedestrians are some of the most vulnerable road users and its important that we improve safety around schools”, the spokesperson
said.
This $14 million program involves painting triangular markings, known as dragon’s teeth, starting at the school zone sign and continuing for up to 32.5 metres along the lane, into the school zone.
This road safety initiative has been rolled out across 3200 schools in NSW protected by more than 10,000 school zones.
The RTA is aiming to have dragon’s teeth at all NSW school zones by the end of 2010.
