Beach advice for students

11 Nov, 2009 02:19 PM
Every summer many Warren families pack up for a holiday at the beach but how familiar are they with the purpose of various Surf Life Saving flags and warning signals?

How many are aware of the vital steps that may save a life in a beach accident?

Students at Warren Central were paid a visit by two life savers last week as part of the Telstra Beach to Bush program; a joint initiative between Surf Life Saving Australia and Telstra.

Armed with beach signs, safety flags, rescue boards and a powerful DVD the students participated in a very engaging and informative interactive session; learning about everything from rips and shark warnings to what to do if a jellyfish stings.
