The Macquarie Matrons raised a massive $100,000 at their 2009 bi-annual Gala Ball.
Angel Flight Australia was the major beneficiary of the event and received a huge $75,000.
These funds will help pay for flights for financially and medically needy patients from rural and remote locations in Australia who need to travel to receive medical treatment.
The additional $25,000 has been directed into the Macquarie Regional Support Fund, which is split in the local region to help support local organisations.
This year, $1500 of Warren’s regional support funds has been donated to the Warren Sporting and Cultural Centre to purchase new gym equipment. $1000 has been donated to both the Warren Squash Club and Warren Central School.
The Hot Flats Choir is receiving a donation of $600 to purchase new song books.
Donations have also been given to the Warren Home Start Program ($500) and St Mary’s School ($400).
The next Macquarie Matrons function will be 2011 and they are currently looking for expressions of interest for any potential sponsors or supporters who are interested in coming on board.
