‘Unique artworks’ to be focus of workshops conducted in region

The creation of artworks unique to the community of Warren will be the focus of month-long workshops to be conducted across the community including at schools, the youth centre and the Lands Council.

‘Connecting Marks and Country’ will take place from October 19 to November 13.

The free printmaking workshops, available for students and adults, will be on traditional and local Aboriginal patterns and designs using research material from the Powerhouse and Australian Museums.

Outback Arts regional arts development officer Sam Newstead said this year’s workshops followed on from a seed project held at Warren Central School last year.

“The workshops will finish with an exhibition to see what everyone has produced,” Ms Newstead said.

The workshops to be held at Warren Macquarie Local Aboriginal Lands Council will take place from 10am to 12pm and participants can register their interest at the Lands Council or “just come along on the day”.

These workshops are set down for October 20 and 27 and November 3 and 10.
