Arielle Irving from Warren Central School will attempt to become the State’s top junior speller when she competes at the Premiers Spelling Bee State Final in Sydney today.
Country Labor MLC Christine Robertson has wished six students from Barwon, Tamworth and Northern Tablelands electorates the best of luck in their quest to be crowned the State’s best speller.
The local students won the right to represent their region at the State finals after spelling their way to the top at the regional final in September.
Other students to make the finals are Gabrielle Elias from Nyngan Public School, Brianna Robertson from Martins Gully Public School, Gabriella Warner from Timbumburi Public School, Emilia Russel from Uralla Central School and Harrison Diss from Nemingha Public School.
“Making it to the State final is an incredible achievement, and I congratulate all six students on their success in the competition,” Ms Robertson said.
“Regardless of today’s result, we are all very proud of their achievements and hope their commitment to being great spellers lasts a lifetime.”
A record 87,449 students from across the State signed up for the competition this year.
The Premier’s Spelling Bee State Final will be held at the ABC Centre, Sydney today and the final half-hour of the senior competition will be broadcast live on ABC local radio from 5.30pm.
