Neryl Ramsay’s magnificent Bearded Iris was named Champion Exhibit at last week’s Anglican Rose and Flower Show and Luncheon.
Mrs Ramsay was also Most Successful Exhibitor taking out the Dot Noonan Memorial trophy. First time exhibitor and president Jenny Hamblin finally took time out from kitchen duties to enter and was rewarded with Champion Arrangement for a decorative piece featuring pretty blue flowers in tiny hanging glass vases.
MC Leanne Hamblin said despite “rain, hail and high winds” leading up to the show, entries were still magnificent.
“Entries were down a bit and usually Iris are the first to go in adverse conditions,” said Mrs Hamblin who also gave the exhibitors tips on how to best display their entries. She thanked everyone that “works tirelessly every year to make the show a success.” These included Dora Murphy and her daughter Eve Smith (Maxville), judges Elaine McCutcheon and Gai Wilson from Narromine, Neryl Ramsay, Janet Edwards, Ruth Ryan, Janet Cleasby, Ann Walker, Fitz McKay, Trish McAlary, Elaine Edwards as well as Jenny Hamblin and her team of kitchen helpers.
