Boost to fish stocks

The annual fish release took place on Thursday with 8750 Murray Cod fingerlings providing a boost to the Macquarie River system.

The dollar-for-dollar fish restocking program (Freshwater Trust) was made possible through Warren Shire Council, Macquarie Cotton Growers Association and Industry and Investment

NSW.

The fingerlings were supplied by Murray-Darling Fisheries at Wagga Wagga.

Since its inception in 1998, 197,316 fingerlings have been released to help restock the river.
