Entities team up to help potential drivers

25 Feb, 2010 12:22 PM
The Birrang Enterprise and Development Company have teamed up with Joblink Plus to start up a program

to help people learn the road rules in allowing them to successfully get their licence.

“Without your licence it can create difficulty in earning independence and seeking employment,” instructor George Bullivant said.

This course has been put together in conjunction with the RTA; it is a ‘holistic’ approach utilising the RTA Road User Handbook and the Birrang Geared Handbook, he said.

The training provides participants with regular access to computers to familiarise them with the format of the Learner Driver Knowledge Test and gives them a pass or fail mark at the completion of each test.

This gives the community a chance to learn a number of literacy and numeracy skills as well as using the RTA touch screens and better knowledge of motor vehicles.

The program goes for five weeks and at the end you will place a test and will receive further assistance in learning how to drive with the LEAP program which allows you to gather your hours easily with community involvement.
