Free paint to give shop-front facelift

03 Apr, 2008 02:12 PM
Local businesses keen to enhance the appearance of their shop fronts have made enquiries about the ‘free paint’ on offer from Warren Shire Council.

Shire general manager Ashley Wielinga said there had been a number of recent enquiries about free paint that is available in heritage colours.

“If a business wants to use its own colour scheme it is of course free to do so but council will provide the designated heritage paint at no cost for business owners to apply.”

Mr Wielinga said a recent meeting of the Town Improvement committee resolved to tidy up pavements, with holes created by removal of trees filled with pavers.

“The pavers in front of the information centre will also be removed and the area cemented in line with the front of the post office, with the whole area then ‘stencilled’,” he said.

Mr Wielinga said council, with public consultation, intends to create a long term plan relating to such things as future tree planting, siting and installation of street furniture, garbage cans and so on.
