Locals join global day of reflection

10 Mar, 2010 01:55 PM
Women as well as some men joined in the annual World Day of Prayer service held at the Anglican Church on Friday afternoon.

The service was prepared this year by the Christian women of Cameroon, a West African nation.

People from all Christian denominations came together for a day of ‘sharing’.

Local readers included Catholic Church representatives Betty McKay, Pat Plunkett and Gertie Clark, Presbyterian Church members Ruth Ryan and Margaret Wass, and Anglican Church members Shirley Todhunter, Edna Hammond, Dora Murphy and Alison Cosgrove. Viv Cleaver from Barnardos was the guest speaker at the service.

Participants enjoyed an afternoon tea following the service.
