Scholarships worth up to $1500 each will be awarded to outstanding young athletes from the remote Far West of NSW, Sport and Recreation Minister Kevin Greene has announced.
“The Far West Academy of Sport is now accepting applications for the 2009-10 Lone Star Scholarship Program.
“Through this program, the academy supports talented individuals who compete in sports for which the FWAS does not offer a squad program.
“Athletes aged 12 to 18 who are competing at a regional or State representative level are strongly encouraged to apply.
“The scholarship recipients will have access to athlete education and sport science services from the FWAS, including strength and conditioning programs, physical testing and monitoring, personal development support and more.
“They will also receive up to $1500 to help with expenses such as travel, gym membership and high level coaching.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for talented young athletes who aspire to reach the highest possible level in their sport.
“I urge eligible Far West athletes to contact the FWAS for an application form today.”
