Colts in top form

17 Dec, 2009 11:41 AM
Colts bounced back from a disappointing loss last weekend to thump competition leaders Golf Club in ruthless fashion.

Colts day was led by captain Tony Harding who smashed 124 which included 11 sixes and nine fours. Colts were 2/164 at the drinks interval and looked like posting a score beyond 300 before Harding was out in the 21st over which triggered a collapse and saw Colts bowled out for 231 in the 37th over. Blake Richardson 22, Jacob Short 13 and C Collins 12 were the only other Colts batsmen into double figures. The Golf Club bowlers were posted to all parts of Dundas Park with figures and economy rates all taking a back seat to Harding’s lusty blows, however Dwayne Kent continued his wicket-taking form taking his season tally to 25 with 5/52. Jeff Noonan claimed 2/16, Trevor O’Mally 2/35 and Todd Whalan 1/57. Golf Club’s task was always going to be a difficult one and was made worse by the loss of early wickets. Golf Club was bundled out in the 28th over for just 86 with Mitch Quigley 29, Jeff Noonan 13 and Scott Quigley 12 the only batsmen into double figures. All Colts bowlers used took two wickets each which included Jordan Richardson, Tony Harding, H Buttsworth and L Young, with the best being Jordan Richardson taking 2/23 off 10 overs. It was a very impressive display by the Colts unit to put themselves back on level terms with Golf Club on top of the competition.
