Cricket is set to resume this week after a two-week break for harvest.
In the first game Town Services will travel to Warren to take on last year’s premiers USC Marthaguy. Due to various factors Town has only played the one match this season and could be a bit underdone as they take on the home team. The other game for round five will see Curban travel to Gular to take on the home side who have been very impressive in their first three games this season. Curban will need to be at their very best to defeat the current ladder leaders. Biddon Toora and Coonamble will have a bye.
Saturday November 28 will see the first of the Twenty20 matches to be played with USC, Coonamble, Curban and Gular all playing double headers at Warren. Town Services will travel to the foot of the Warrumbungles to take on the mountain men at Tooraweenah in the other game. This is the first time that Twenty20 cricket has been part of the Gilgandra competition.
In Country Plate cricket, Gilgandra had to unfortunately forfeit to Cobar in round three of this Statewide knockout. Only seven players put up their hand to make the trek out. It seems that representative cricket in Gilgandra is on the wane and it is even more disappointing considering the great win the Gilgandra team had only two weeks ago against Nyngan in this competition. This Sunday, McGrane Oval will be used as Walgett take on Nyngan in the Brewery Shield competition.
