Local girls Emma Wilson and Laura Quigley took part in the first leg of the Sisters of Charity, Nuns’ Run, which is currently underway and will cover the 400km distance from Dubbo to Darlinghurst.
The event aims to raise cancer awareness and crucial funds for the establishment of a new $100 million Cancer Centre within the St Vincent’s Research Precinct, Sydney. Sisters Helen Clarke and Leone Wittmack hope to arrive in Sydney on Friday.
Emma Wilson heard about the run on the radio and dragged friend Laura Quigley along to join the 300 others that set off from Dubbo zoo on May 24. Laura Quigley said apart from a little sunburn, the 5.5km walk was very enjoyable and the girls got to chat with the sisters and celebrity Delta Goodrem along the way.
