What a day of golf there was last Sunday with the second last round of the Auscott Summer Golf Competition played.
The event was an American Foursome sponsored by Kaye and John Martin.
The undefeated competition leaders Deb’s Demons lost their first game of the season to Michael’s Big Hitters.
Had either of the two teams coming second - that is Foodies Rawhides and Quig’s Queens - won then the final results would have hinged on the last round this Sunday.
The girls team Barm convincingly beat Foodies team and Pappies Plodders narrowly beat Quig’s team. Bear’s Bums had the bye so these teams and Michael’s Big Hitters are all equal second.
Out of all this Deb’s Demons now can’t be beaten and have won the competition. So congratulations to them on their good consistent golf all year. Next week’s round will be very interesting as Deb’s team play Bear’s, Michael’s team play Quig’s and Foodies play the Coppers who have now had two draws.
There is a good chance there will be a play-off for second place and this will a four-person ambrose over six holes, 13 through to 18.
The wooden spoon unfortunately has been decided as well with Kaye’s BMWs well and truly winning it.
We think it might be the first time since the Auscott summer competition began many years ago that a team has not won a game but there is still one week left so they will be out to try and redeem themselves.
They play the very in-form and putting in a late charge team Rubies Barm, so the game is on.
The winners of round 10 by a half shot were Ruby Fowler and Alison Payne (who also won the opening competition round on Saturday).
They had a great score of 36 1/2 and runners-up were the quiet achievers Pam and George Laws. Ruby’s team has the best team score for the round by a long way with their other two Barb and Marg having nett 39.
A quick mention here that the Bradman round of the day (can’t say they came last, it’s not politically correct) was Jarrard Noonan and Matt Murphy who, for those of you who don’t know, are in Deb’s Demons.
Congratulations to the Golf Club cricket team on making the grand final of the competition.
This will be played in Narromine against Narromine this Saturday. All supporters are welcome.
