 Demons one swing ahead

Demons one swing ahead

03 Mar, 2010 02:33 PM
What a weekend of golf we have just had with some very tight matches being played.

You can also tell that the course is not as heavy as it has been with some excellent scores and as a result lots of work to be done by the handicapper.

Debs Demons remain undefeated with only two weeks to go.

They played Mitch’s Queens on Sunday who had only lost one match to date and Deb’s team won by only one point thanks to a great round of golf from Matt Murphy with 35 points.

It only took the eight players from the two teams one hour to redo, check, and redo and more checking to finally agree on the result.

Thank goodness Deb is only away for one week.

Foodie’s Rawhides had the bye this week and with Bear’s Bums losing quite convincingly to Benny Ho’s team.

Foodie’s team is now equal second with Mitch’s team.

These teams are 72 points, 64 points and the dark horses Michael McKay’s Big Hitters with another win under their belt are now on 60 points with Bears Bums.

We could easily see teams being equal at the end of this competition.

By this Sunday we will have made a decision re play-offs etc as the Men’s winter comp medal round is being played on our last day.

It will be announced at golf on Sunday so if you are in any of the above teams please make sure you know what could happen on Sunday March 14.

Last Sunday we played an Individual stroke round sponsored by The Overflow Pastoral Co and the winner was Matt Murphy (with a reduction of 10 shots off his handicap), runner-up was Mitch Quigley on 31 points and he lost 6 shots.

The wooden spoon is being hotly contested between Kaye’s BMW’s and The Coppers.

They played each other this weekend and had a draw, the first of any teams this summer.

At this stage the Coppers are ahead but the BMW’s could be late finishers. Surely they couldn’t play the whole comp without a win.

Pappies Plodders had a win this week against the girls team BARM and Pappy requested a special mention, as they haven’t had a lot of wins this year.

This round of the week was Mick Connelly who shot two over par for the 12 holes.

Well done Mick; Your summer competition handicap is now three.

Don’t forget presentation night is Friday 19 March at the Golf Club.
