There was no local golf last Wednesday as 14 players competed in the Veteran Women’s Golf Association event at Coonamble.
A grade was a stableford event and Dallas Wilson was runner-up.
Kaye Martin, Sue Burke and Ruby Fowler were also front runners. Trish McAlary was runner-up in the B grade event with Jan Barclay third and Elsie Lefebvre fourth. Ball winners were Kaye, Chris, Shirley and Pauline and Sue Burke won the longest drive. Elsie and Pauline were nearest the pin winners.
Saturday was the final of the Club Championships and congratulations to the winners and handicap breakers. Deb Kentwell was A grade scratch winner in the first round on August 8 on 124 with Kaye Martin 132 runner-up.
Rhonda Darcy took out the B grade scratch with 143, with Daphne Calvert 148 runner-up after a countback. The overall handicap winner was Shirley Ferrier 100 and runner-up Marg Davies 103.
On Saturday August 15 the overall 54-hole scratch winner was Deb Kentwell 252 with Kaye Matin runner-up on 256. The B Grade 54-hole scratch honours went to Rhonda Darcy 289, with Shirley Ferrier 298 runner-up.
Fifty-four-hole handicap winner was Daphne Calvert 207 1/2 with Sue Burke 209 runner-up. Janet Ruskin-Rowe was 27-hole scratch A grade winner on 135 with Sumi Boyd 155 the B grade winner. Sumi also won the 54-hole C grade with 321. It was good to see a big turnout for the second round.
Don’t forget the Ladies Open Day tournament is on September 13 and we hope to see all our golfers turn up for the day.
Today is the Deb Kentwell Canadian Foursomes Invitation, Saturday is the Warren Joinery and Hardware 18-hole stroke and third round of the Handicap Cup and Sunday is the Albert Open. Next Wednesday Marg Kentwell will sponsor the 18-hole stroke August Medal.
