Rain no deterrent at charity golf day

25 Jun, 2009 10:53 AM
Warren Lions Club held a successful charity golf day on Sunday with 42 enthusiastic players showing up despite the rainy conditions.

Thank you to businesses that contributed to the fundraising efforts including Warren IGA, Spar Supermarket, Macquarie Toyota, Western Farm Machinery, Three Rivers, TJs Butchery, Boyds Butchery, Warren Nursery Café, Ewe Two Clothing (Trangie) and the team from Chesterfield. Thanks to Warren Golf Club and Jarrard Noonan for the organisation and use of facilities for the day at no cost. Outgoing Lions president Aub Dinsdale gave a brief thank you speech at the end of the day to all present, as well as a summary of what the funds raised will be used for. Wellington, Dubbo, Geurie, Narromine and Warren are combining to buy a mobility wheelchair to be available for adults with quadriplegia or for any handicapped child.

More than $1000 was raised at the golf day, which was a fantastic effort for a small town. Raffle winners were first Marg Davies, second Judy Ridley and third Courtney Graham.

Don’t forget the Lions Club Changeover Dinner on Saturday night, contact Aub Dinsdale if you would like to attend.
