Players promote study

09 Feb, 2012 11:13 AM
NSW Country Rugby League representatives were out and about this week visiting country towns to promote rugby league and deliver a positive message about the value of education.

At Warren Central School CRL development officer Alex Prout introduced ex NSWRL player Ronnie Gibbs as well as two young men from the current Manly/Warringah stable, Scott Blanch and Liam Higgins, both of whom are originally from country NSW.

Their message to the students was to set life goals then work hard to achieve them, making whatever sacrifices were necessary.

While Ronnie didn’t have the opportunity to finish school he spoke of how he had ensured his four children had done so, and both Scott and Liam outlined the studies they had been doing since the HSC to ensure they had a life after rugby league.

Finally, answering a question from the floor regarding how Manly was going to fare with the departure of coach Des Hasler, the answer was a unanimous “just the same”, Geoff Toovey was “just as good.”
