Surprise victory puts Bulldogs into semi final

20 Aug, 2009 11:20 AM
An injury-riddled Warren Bulldogs outfit played their way into the minor semi-final when they registered a surprise 28-14 victory over the Gulgong Terriers at Gulgong.

The two sides will meet again on Saturday with the game once again being played at Gulgong. The Bulldogs can expect some tough opposition from the Terriers who will be out to erase the memory of their disappointing display last week in front of their home crowd.

The top-of-the-table clash between the Coonamble Bears and the Gilgandra Panthers was a robust affair that was played out in front of a huge crowd at the Bears home ground. The Bears will now have to trek down to Gilgandra next Sunday to do it all again as the two teams will be clashing in the major semi-final, with the big prize for a win in that game being the right to host the grand final a fortnight later.

Castlereagh Cup Rugby League Round 15 scores: Coonamble 36 (Neville Suey 2, Lewis Murphy, Steve Roworth, Lachlan Mylercharane, Daniel Smith tries, Roworth 6 goals) defeated Gilgandra 24 (Scott Rogers, Dwain McEwen, Alex Prout, Mark Batten tries, McEwen 4 goals) Half time 18 all. Warren 28 defeated Gulgong 14.

Baradine 54 defeated Dunedoo 12 (played earlier).

Saturday minor semi-final at Gulgong: Gulgong versus Warren.

Sunday’s major semi-final at Gilgandra: Gilgandra versus Coonamble.
