Wellington was the destination for carnival capers on the weekend, with 12 competitors braving the weather to swim at that carnival.
Matthew Marks got off to a flying start winning the 200-metre individual medley. Matthew also came second in freestyle, first in butterfly, first in breaststroke and first in backstroke.
Joseph Marks was next to launch from the blocks taking home third in 200m individual medley, second in freestyle, first in butterfly, first in breaststroke and third in backstroke.
Next they called girls 200m individual medley and Imogen Waters with her smooth, slick style breezed in to the wall to win gold. Imogen also picked up third in freestyle, third in butterfly, third in breaststroke and fourth in backstroke.
Our up and coming 6 and unders were Jessica McCarthy and Courtney Marks with Jess receiving first in freestyle, first in butterfly, first in breaststroke and first in backstroke and Courtney taking home third in freestyle, second in butterfly, second in breaststroke and second in backstroke.
With rain starting to fall Brittany Marks took to the blocks collecting second in freestyle, first in butterfly, fourth in breaststroke and third in backstroke. Max Irving and Felix Weston arrived just in time to compete in the eight-year-old boys freestyle.
Both boys swam well with Max winning first in freestyle and third in backstroke and Felix winning second in freestyle, first in butterfly, first in breaststroke and first in backstroke.
Hannah McCarthy showed them how it’s done taking home second in freestyle, first in butterfly, second in breaststroke and first in backstroke.
Everyone cheered loudly when Sarah McCarthy completed each of her 50m races. Sarah placed sixth in freestyle, fourth in butterfly, sixth in breaststroke and fifth in backstroke.
Hugo Weston was in fine form picking up second in freestyle, first in butterfly, second in breaststroke and first in backstroke.
Despite the rain the kids had a very successful and wonderful time at Wellington.
